Wine Ice Cream Is Coming, and It Contains Plenty of Alcohol

Wine and ice cream have long been the unofficial mascots of couch-parked movie nights, break-ups, and sweatpants-wearing indulgence in general. Naturally, someone finally decided to put them together. Enter: Winecream—the creation of a Washington D.C.-based ice cream maker who is churning out a wine-infused product that packs buzz without alcoholic flavor.

The treat, which has roughly the alcohol content of a glass of wine but tastes like good-old-fashioned ice cream, was the invention of engineer Dan Gorham and his sister, Katie, who spent a year researching and developing the optimal way to give their frozen treat a 10 percent ABV without making it taste gross. Another unique challenge for the duo was the fact that wine doesn’t freeze in the average freezer, even when mixed with other ingredients. The solution, they found, was liquid nitrogen, which at -300 degrees Fahrenheit froze and fused the wine with the cream.

Useless TSA creating lines, scaring away travelers, study says

TSA Lines

Excruciating wait times at security checkpoints at airport across the country are doing more than just exasperating travelers.

According to a survey conducted by the U.S. Travel Association, airports’ long lines are driving 1 in 5 travelers away, potentially costing the travel industry $4.3 billion over the three-month peak summer season.

Twenty-two percent of survey respondents planning on flying this summer said they would either travel by other means or delay or cancel trips because of long airport waits.

“We’re looking at convincing data that says hundreds of thousands of people are potentially reconsidering whether to get on an airplane every single day.”

Another 60% reported they would arrive earlier at the airport, but their travel plans would not change drastically. The remaining 18% said long lines would not change their travel plans at all.

The U.S. Travel Association claims this correlates with big losses in revenue.

“To put these figures in perspective, the problems at TSA security lines are costing our economy almost a billion and a half dollars in spending and more than 12,000 jobs every month,” president and CEO Roger Dow said in a statement.

“We’re looking at convincing data that says hundreds of thousands of people are potentially reconsidering whether to get on an airplane every single day.”

Snowden on Destroyed Torture Report: ‘When CIA Destroys Something, It’s Never a Mistake’

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden pushed back against CIA claims Wednesday that the recent destruction of the Senate’s torture report was done so by accident.

As reported Monday, an intelligence source speaking with Yahoo Newsrevealed that the CIA inspector general’s office deleted both an “uploaded computer file with the report” as well as “a disk that also contained the document.”

Snowden, who worked as a cybersecurity expert for the CIA prior to his time as an NSA contractor, insinuated that the document’s destruction was anything but accidental.

I worked @CIA. I wrote the Emergency Destruction Plan for Geneva. When CIA destroys something, it’s never a mistake.

Home Depot Employee in Staten Island, NY Hates America, Brags About It At Work, Mgr Cares Less

So apparently a photograph has been making its way through the bowels of the internet of a Home Depot employee wearing a hat stating, ‘AMERICA WAS NEVER GREAT!’

I discovered the photo on the ‘Overpasses for America’ Facebook page, and I learned that ‘Krystal’ works for the Forest Avenue store in Staten Island, NY.

Obviously offended that a major corporation like Home Depot (even if it is in New York) would tolerate this, I phoned the store to speak with the manager.

Upon being transferred to him following the excessively long sigh from the customer service desk, I was disappointed that I couldn’t understand a single word he said. He had a very thick middle eastern accent, and sadly, I couldn’t even catch the spelling of his name.

The only phrase he said that I did understand was ‘zero tolerance,’ so I’m assuming he’s well aware of this issue. However, according to some of the comments on the Overpasses for America Facebook page, his initial concern was with getting the photo removed from the internet. Not reprimanding his employee!

That my friends is my sole purpose for publishing this article. The management at this store was likely well aware of ‘Krystal’s’ disgusting hat, and they probably could’ve cared less.

Swallow This FDA-Approved Balloon and Lose Weight

One medical device company is taking an easy approach to weight loss. Privately held Apollo Endosurgery developed a non-surgical procedure in which a patient swallows a tiny balloon that is inflated with saline inside the stomach.

“It’s small and slender. It’s inserted by a physician into your stomach under sedation. It’s filled up inside the stomach and then the patient has the balloon in for 6 months,” said Apollo Endosurgery President Dennis McWilliams to the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney.

According to McWilliams the procedure promotes healthier eating habits which in turn keeps the weight off after the balloon is removed.

“The typical patient will lose anywhere from 20 to 40 pounds. Some people can lose more than that. It really depends on the diet and exercise program that’s around the patient as they have the balloon in,” said McWilliams.

Attn Taxpayers: Post Office Workers Paid for Doing Nothing

Even though the U.S. Post Office has lost more than $50 billion in the last nine years, an odd deal cut between the U.S. Postal Service and its government union has resulted in millions of tax dollars spent on post office workers who get paid for doing nothing.

Millions of hacked LinkedIn IDs advertised ‘for sale’

A hacker is advertising what he says is more than one hundred million LinkedIn logins for sale.

The IDs were reportedly sourced from a breach four years ago, which had previously been thought to have included a fraction of that number.

At the time, the business-focused social network said it had reset the accounts of those it thought had been compromised.

LinkedIn now plans to repeat the measure on a much larger scale.

One expert said the service should have reset all its accounts the first time round.

LinkedIn is often used to send work-related messages and to find career opportunities – activities its members would want to stay private.

Criminals could make use of this information or see if its subscribers had used the same passwords elsewhere.

“We are taking immediate steps to invalidate the passwords of the accounts impacted, and we will contact those members to reset their passwords,” a spokeswoman for the California-based firm told the BBC.

You Can’t Fix Stupid – Baby bison euthanized after tourists kidnapped it because it looked cold

The National Parks Service announced on Monday that the bison calf captured by tourists last week was euthanized.

Mashable reported Sunday that a father and son kidnapped a bison calf, placed it in their SUV and brought it to Lamar Buffalo Ranch in Wyoming last Monday, because they said that it looked cold and they feared for its well being.

“Park Rangers tried repeatedly to reunite the newborn bison calf with the herd. These efforts failed,” the National Parks Service wrote in a post on its website. “The bison calf was later euthanized because it was abandoned and causing a dangerous situation by continually approaching people and cars along the roadway.”

The post also highlighted that the capture of the bison was incredibly dangerous because, “adult animals are very protective of their young and will act aggressively to defend them.”

The father and son who captured the baby animal were ticketed for their actions.

Karen Richerson, a bystander who saw the father and son pull up with the bison in the vehicle, said the two had genuine concern for the animal.

This bus will turn your commute into a hellish spinning studio class

Finding the time to exercise can be a nightmare, especially if you don’t fancy waking up earlier than usual, or stopping by the gym after work.

One British fitness company is planning to kill two birds with one stone and combine your morning commute with a fitness class. No, we’re not talking about aerobics on the Tube — although that’s a pretty awesome idea.

1Rebel has announced plans to transform a London bus into a mobile spinning studio, so you can combine your commute with a high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout.

The fitness brand is currently in talks with a number of bus companies, however it doesn’t yet have sign off from government. If it were approved, the bus could launch after the summer.

The unusual vehicle will travel the most popular commuter routes across London, finishing up at the 1Rebel studio, where riders can have a shower and a smoothie before work.
