GoDaddy Drops Danica Patrick!!!

GoDaddy is officially PUMPING THE BRAKES on its NASCAR sponsorship of Danica Patrick — and will no longer be her primary car sponsor.

The internet domain company has been Patrick’s #1 car sponsor since 2010 — but has announced it will NOT renew it’s deal with the 33-year-old driver when it expires later this year.

GoDaddy says it’s working on a “personal services” contract with the driver.

Patrick told The Associated Press, “I’m sad. I’m a little surprised and I’m sad.”

She added, “But to say I didn’t imagine this was not a scenario would be a lie. It’s bittersweet. It’s going to be really weird to think I won’t drive the bright green, can’t-miss-it car next year.”

It’s True, Chick-fil-A Is Coming to Las Vegas

Forget the rumors, the first Nevada outpost of Chick-fil-A will be close to Sunset Station.

Finally, Chick-fil-A is on its way, this time for real and headed to Henderson. Plans are very far advanced to create the first Chick-fil-A quick serve restaurant in Nevada, occupying 4,544 square feet and equipped with a play area, a drive-thru and their craveable chicken sandwiches.

Set to open 24 hours, Monday through Saturday and pointedly closed on Sundays, Chick-fil-A takes over a vacant bank building at 460 N. Stephanie St., sitting across from an Outback Steakhouse and the recently debuted Hash House A Go Go just south of Sunset Station and the Galleria at Sunset.

Taco Bell Just Announced 4 Hours Of FREE BISCUIT TACOS On Cinco De Mayo

Taco Bell just used live streaming service Periscope to announce to thousands of hungry viewers that they will be celebrating Cinco De Mayo by giving away completely free Biscuit Tacos for four hours. One of the largest Periscope viewings I’ve ever witnessed:

The information we got from the live announcement mentions that between the hours of 7am – 11am on May 5th, 2015, Taco Bell goers can get an absolutely free biscuit taco in either a sausage or bacon variety. That’s 4 hours of free tacos (assuming you have to leave and come back in a different outfit).

I still don’t know how I feel about their corny-ass “Breakfast Defector” campaign, but I can respect the hustle of free tacos.

TIME TO REWIND! THE ORIGINAL PURPLE PASSION IS BACK!

Who doesn’t love the 80’s? Playing your cassettes on your boom box, popping your favorite VHS tapes in your VCR, rocking some rolled-up jeans – and partying with some Purple Passion!

College students in the 80’s made a delicious drink in metal containers (and often in bathtubs) on campuses nation-wide and Luxco (then David Sherman Corporation) capitalized on this popular concoction to create the iconic Purple Passion! Originally launched in 1986, Purple Passion was a pioneer in the Ready-to-Drink category. Branded with the Everclear name and canned for convenience, it was an immediate success, with sales reaching almost 1 million cases! We are excited to announce the re-launch of this product with a fun, retro feel which is a nod to the brand’s origin.

Through the years, the brand has gone through many transformations, most recently sold as a 26 proof, spirit-based, non-carbonated drink. We’re reviving the original formula of a 10 proof, wine-based, carbonated drink to address growing consumer demand. Consumers are increasingly favoring beverages that are light and flavorful, which fits Purple Passion perfectly. It’s a great refreshing choice for the upcoming summer months!

The product will be bottled at our Meier’s Beverage Group facility in Cincinnati. The suggested retail price for the 4-pack is $7.99.

Military Revives Almost-Abandoned Mountain Base to Protect Against New-Era Threat

The Cold War-Era bunker in Colorado Springs that was designed to protect the U.S. military’s command in the event of a nuclear bomb is getting a new purpose after many of the operations once inside Cheyenne Mountain have been moved over the years.

The Cheyenne Mountain Complex originally housed the control room for the North American Aerospace Defense Command, which later moved to Peterson Air Force Base not far away. But last week, William Gortney, commander of U.S. Northern Command and NORAD, said at a briefing that some military communications equipment was moving into the mountain.

This time, the military is turning toward the Cheyenne Mountain Complex for protection from electromagnetic pulses. EMPs can occur naturally, but the threat of artificial EMP attacks have been a popular discussion point of late.

First All-Metal, 3-D-Printed Firearm Suppressor, but the Company That Made It Doesn’t Want to Be Named

3D Printed Metal Silencer

3D Printed Metal Silencer

The Truth About Guns, a blog that “[explores] the ethics, morality, business, politics, culture, technology, practice, strategy, dangers and fun of guns,” recently got its hands on a 3-D-printed, metal suppressor, also commonly known as a silencer, for a test run.

Describing the design of traditionally made silencers as “something of a black art and extremely complex,” Nick Leghorn for blog tested out this version made with a 3-D printer and wrote:

Running the can side-by-side with a Liberty Mystic-X, the 3D printed model is slightly louder but still well within the realm of “hearing safe” with subsonic 300 AAC Blackout ammunition. With a little tweaking that could probably be improved, and given the efficiencies of 3D printing, that shouldn’t take too long.

The only real concern I had with the can is durability. A circumferentially welded titanium can will stand up to an insane level of stress before it finally bursts or wears out. But with a 3D printed suppressor I have no idea about how short the barrel can be on a rifle or how many rounds it can go before it starts to fail. If this were to be commercially available, I’d want to see some serious testing before I bought one, and even then I might hold off for a couple years to see how things went.

Leghorn said that the company who created the 3-D-printed silencer asked to remain anonymous because “they’re a parts manufacturer and don’t want to be in the gun business.” He added that they only made the suppressor, which is not for sale, as “an example of what’s possible with 3D printing.”

Overall, Leghorn said that the benefit using 3-D printer technology to produce gun parts like this is that it can facilitate a faster testing process for new designs.

“Instead of needing an entire machine shop dedicated to R&D just to produce the testing versions of new cans, they can spring forth fully-formed and ready for action from a metal 3D printer instead and go straight to testing,” he wrote on the Truth About Guns.
